Dancing!
About my passion for dancing

Like almost every teenager, I took dance classes during my last years of high school. At first, it was just the basics, but since I had so much fun with my talented ex-boyfriend, we decided to continue and eventually joined the formation group of the dance school we had always admired. We had a great time learning new dances and performing together as a team (see picture above). Yet, I wish I had started earlier with dancing and joining formation. The fridays were the best days, expecially because we had dancing class. But back then I was already overthinking, overplanning and optimizing a lot which led me to this late start.
When I moved to Zurich for university, I was really sad that I would lose the joy dancing had brought me. But luckily, on the very first day when I joined a university dance class, I met an incredibly talented and interesting guy who became a good friend of mine, Theo Lequy.
I’m so grateful to him — he taught me countless dance moves and basically introduced me to Salsa and Bachata (which have been my favorite styles ever since). Thanks to him, my passion for dancing didn’t fade away.
Then university life hit me hard. As a perfectionist and constant optimizer, I didn’t allow myself time for hobbies anymore. (Big mistake — but some lessons you only learn by making the mistake yourself. More on that here.)
Now I’m finally happy to be dancing again (regularly since the third semester) and enjoying the freedom it brings me.
Dancing gives me so much body awareness, confidence and frees me from feeling stuck in a stiff meatsuit.
When I dance, my mind gets quiet — finally. I’m sure that if you give it a try, you’ll FEEL what you haven’t felt and wouldn’t feel without dancing.
I recently (summer 2026, end of my forth semestser) also started to learn being a leader in Bachata. That was the best idea ever.
In the next semester (my fifth) I am planning to join a student formation group of TQ at ETH. They are also competing as a formation group — something I’ve always wnated to be part of. And I hope to find a great community there, a group feeling and new friends. I would be so thankful for that.
